When I heard of Maple and Market, I was just awed that a cafe could actually appear at the void deck of the Old Airport road area, only fashionable for its delicious hawker food. Recently featured on 5 Quaint Cafe in Your Neighbourhood, this cafe is indeed a sweet getaway spot. They specialize in home made cakes and the special variety of flavours would spoil you for choices.
This sweet setup is extremely comfortable on a quiet day.
A pity is that there are limited seats around and you might prefer to get some take away if it is too crowded.
It might not have the best view but any cafes with full length windows is still a pretty sight.
They also hold baking lessons! Check out their facebook page for more information!
There are some pretty accessories and stationery for sale, you should take a look!
The Raspberry cake was slightly dense and not too sweet or overwhelming.
The Peanut Butter Cake was pretty sticky as expected, but it wasn't too sweet and the moisture in the cake was just right. As a non-fan of peanut butter cakes, I thought this was pretty good.
One flavour worth mentioning would be the Rootbeer Cake. In my mind, I just can't seem to picture how rootbeer flavour would taste like in a cake. It was unqiue and somehow just tasted chocolaty, with an ending fragrance of Rootbeer.
Finally, the Victorian Sponge cake was soft and light, and it carried the sweetness of fruits. I would vote this as the best out of the four we tried.

The Place
It is a 10 minutes walk in from the Old Airport Market, not that tough to spot, but surely well hidden underneath those HDB blocks.This sweet setup is extremely comfortable on a quiet day.

Lucky that I came with 3 friends so we got 4 cakes to try.The Raspberry cake was slightly dense and not too sweet or overwhelming.

The Menu
{ In a nutshell }
Overall I would say that Maple & Market is a nice desserts place to go to after meals at Old Airport Road and the cakes are reasonably priced for its quality. However, the limited seats and small shopspace might be a push factor. If you live nearby, it wouldn't hurt to take a peep in and have a taste of its cakes!Follow @Cafehoppingsg on Instagram!
